It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. Chess Club will hold its first tournament from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21 in the college cafeteria. Entry fee is $8 until Friday and $10 the day of the tournament. There will be six rounds, three per day. Players get to play all six rounds even if they lose. Players who have chessboards and chess clocks are encouraged to bring them.
