In a move that gives the Yankees the flexibility to trade Paul O'Neill, New York New York, state, United States

O'Neill limped through the second half of last season because of a torn hamstring, yet still finished with a .302 average, 19 homers and 91 homers. Raines, after missing most of the season, helped carry the team at times in September.
