Olympic 800- and 1,500-meter champion Svetlana Masterkova Svetlana Alexandrovna Masterkova (born January 17, 1968) is a Russian former middle distance runner. At the 1996 Summer Olympics, she won the gold medal in both the 800 and 1,500 metres.

Born in Achinsk (Siberia), Masterkova started out as an 800 meter runner.
