Literary guild plans membership party

GLENDALE - The Cabrini Literary Guild will hold its traditional membership tea on Sept. 9.

The guild was founded in 1943 by a group of women interested in literary discussions. It has grown into an organization with cultural, philanthropic, spiritual and social interests. The guild supports local charities and sponsors an annual writing contest open to Catholic high school students.

Rapid Response Corps members provide emergency help to victims of local disasters, such as single-family home or apartment fires, and with disasters nationwide. Members also provide information about disaster, health, cardiopulmonary resuscitation cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), emergency procedure used to treat victims of cardiac and respiratory arrest. CPR can be done in a hospital with drugs and special equipment or as a first-aid technique.  and first-aid preparedness to local communities.

Candidates must have at least one year of volunteer experience and be available to leave immediately for disaster assignments for 21 days at a time.

Arthritis treatments to be seminar topic

GLENDALE - Orthopedist Phillip O. Merrit will discuss treatment options for patients with arthritis Wednesday at Glendale Adventist Medical Center Glendale Adventist Medical Center is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, California. It was founded in 1905. Glendale Adventist Medical Center is a sister institution of Loma Linda University Medical Center and is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist hospital system. .

The talk is the first in a series of free seminars offered by the Joint Replacement Program at the medical center.
