Springlike weather returned to Los Angeles on Friday and was expected to last into the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

``This is Mother Nature at her finest,'' Weather Service specialist Bill Hoffer said. ``This is typical for pretty much all of the West Coast.''

Skies will be mostly clear through Sunday with highs in the mid-70s and periods of fog and patchy low clouds in the morning, he said.

On Friday, the high reached 77 degrees at the Los Angeles Civic Center, 85 degrees in Woodland Hills and 81 degrees in Burbank.

Bacteria discovery spurs cheese recall

GARDENA - Azteca Cheese Co. on Friday voluntarily recalled nine cheese products distributed primarily in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, after Listeria monocytogenes bacteria was found during routine sampling.

Although there have been no confirmed illnesses associated with the cheese, all packages of the affected products should be discarded, according to the state Department of Food and Agriculture.

Gardena-based Azteca Cheese recalled the following Queso Azteca products with codes of May 2 through May 11:

Cotija brand all-natural cheese and part skim milk cheese in 50- to 60- pound random-weight wheels.

Queso de Casa whole milk cheese in 13- to 14-pound random-weight wheels.

Panela Casera part skim milk cheese in 10-pound basket wheels.

Queso Oaxaca part skim milk cheese in 10- to 11-pound random-weight balls.

Queso Crema whole milk cheese in 3 to 4-pound basket wheels.

Queso Fresco whole milk cheese in 12-ounce wheels.

Queso Panela whole milk cheese in 12-ounce wheels.

Queso Adobera part skim milk cheese in 5-pound loaves.

Azteca also recalled the following product coded April 3:

Requeson part skim milk cheese in 28-pound buckets.
