The ewe and her 3-day-old lamb, perhaps the last of the sheep on any of the Channel Islands, were cornered Thursday and are now awaiting a home in Ventura County.

The National Park Service removal represents the end of 150 years of sheep ranching on the islands. Since mid-1997, the Park Service has spent more than $2.1 million to capture and remove 9,278 sheep.
