BRIEFLY : VAN NUYS STANDOFF ENDS IN MAN'S ARREST.

VAN NUYS - A man barricaded himself in his home and held police at bay during a nine-hour standoff before a SWAT team stormed the home and captured him early Sunday, police said.

The problem apparently developed from a family dispute between a 30-year-old man and his father, who called police at about 6 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. Shortly after police arrived in the 14000 block of Kittridge Avenue, the father managed to escape from the house with a grandchild who was 5 or 6 years old, said Bertoldo.

Police then blocked off the street and brought in a crisis negotiation team.
