Theft suspect faces charge of murder

VAN NUYS - A Sun Valley man who allegedly stole a car last week was charged with capital murder Wednesday because the vehicle's owner was hit and killed by another vehicle while chasing the thief.

Defendant Albert Cavazos, 34, is being held without bail.

Deputy District Attorney William H. Johnson said the driver whose vehicle hit and killed Di Zhong Song was not charged with a crime.

Cavazos is accused of taking a car from Song, who ran into the street and was hit while apparently trying to flag down a taxi.

Robbers ignore cash in register

Three men robbed an employee of a Northridge clothing store Wednesday, but fled without emptying the cash register, police said.

Posing as customers, the robbers entered The Family Gift Shop in the 8500 block of Reseda Boulevard shortly before 11 a.m. and quickly pulled a 9 mm gun on the cashier, said Sgt. Robert Davis Robert Davis can refer to:

After the robbers bound the employee's hands and feet they demanded her purse which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, said Davis.

Pacoima man falls to death in Arizona

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - A Pacoima man who climbed a cliff, to chase what he thought was a bighorn sheep Bighorn sheep

The 21-year-old victim was boating with friends Tuesday when the incident happened in an area known as Devil's Elbow near Topock, said Steve Johnson, spokesman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Department.

The name of the man was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

The man's friends tried to discourage him when he said he was jumping from an overhang about 150 feet up the cliff, Johnson said.
