Mike Tyson will begin his comeback with a fight as early as October if Nevada boxing authorities agree to give him a new boxing license, a Tyson adviser said Friday.

Shelly Finkel said Tyson will apply next month for the license, which was taken away after Tyson bit Evander Holyfield twice on the ears during their WBA heavyweight title fight last June.

Finkel said Tyson would have his first comeback fight either in October or November if the commission looks favorably on his application.

``I've got to believe the chances of him getting a license are good,'' Finkel said. ``He has behaved in the last year.''

Tyson is eligible to apply for a new license July 9, a year after the Nevada State Athletic Commission revoked his license and fined him $3 million for the infamous biting in the rematch of their first heavyweight title fight.

Tyson was disqualified in the third round by referee Mills Lane after he bit a chunk out of Holyfield's left ear, then bit his right ear.

Finkel, who said he will represent the former heavyweight champion in his dealings with Nevada boxing authorities, is one of several people who Tyson has aligned himself with after splitting from promoter Don King and his former co-managers, John Horne and Rory Holloway.

Tyson has filed suits in New York and California in efforts to get out of contracts with King and Horne and Holloway.

Former WBA heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon was sentenced to five years probation and 364 days in jail for smoking pot with a teen-age girl and taking part in sexual activity with her last year.

Julio Cesar Chavez was arrested on tax charges as he returned to Mexico following a fight in Connecticut.

Federal police met Chavez's plane as it arrived in the northwestern city of Culiacan and arrested him, according to the Televisa network.

Thursday, the former six-time world champion stopped Ken Sigurani at 2:09 of the third round in a non-title bout at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.

BASKETBALL: Washington Wizards forward Juwan Howard is seeking $20 million from the woman who accused him of sexual assault, saying in a lawsuit that her allegations against him ``have done irreparable harm to my reputation and image.''

Howard's lawyer filed the civil suit in Montgomery County Circuit Court in Maryland. The suit seeks compensation for emotional distress caused by the charges made by a Connecticut woman.

In a complaint that also named Howard's then-teammate Chris Webber, the woman contended she was sexually assaulted during a party April 6 at Howard's suburban Maryland home. The grand jury in Montgomery County did not hand down an indictment.

Houston Rockets star Charles Barkley was fined $320 and ordered to make community service visits to two children's programs to settle charges filed after he was accused of throwing a bar patron through a window.

``I had allowed myself to be provoked by a malicious bar patron, and I realize in hindsight that I compounded the problem by not being initially more cooperative with the officers present,'' Barkley wrote in a letter of apology.

Barkley's attorney entered a written no-contest plea on his behalf to a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest without violence in exchange for the dismissal of three more serious charges.
