BRIEFLY : TWO GUNMEN IN CAR WOUND 3 IN SPREE.

PACOIMA - Police on Sunday were searching for two men in a white Suburban who are suspected of wounding three people in a Saturday night shooting spree at three separate Pacoima locations, police said.

``Our officers are still beating the bushes trying to find these guys,'' said Sgt. Wes Buhrmester of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division.

Two of the wounded people were treated at local hospitals and released. A third, shot in the upper body, was wounded more seriously, but Buhrmester said he was in stable condition Sunday and is expected to recover.

Police said it is not clear whether the victims were known to the shooters or were targeted at random. Police said none of the victims, all male Latinos in their 20s, was immediately linked to any gang.

``We believe that gang members are involved in the shootings, but there hasn't been a definitive gang link with the victims,'' Buhrmester said.

The shootings occurred between 9 and 10 p.m. at several different locations in Pacoima. Buhrmester said the suspects shot several rounds at the victims.

``They just drove by and shot at them, not really taking aim,'' Buhrmester said.

At Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Terra Bella Street, shots fired from the Suburban hit two people. Minutes earlier, in the 13800 block of Desmond Street, another victim was hit in the thigh.

Shots from the same vehicle were reported at Kewen Avenue and Kagel Canyon Street, but no one was hit at that location, said Lt. Don Lehman of the Foothill Division.

The four-door white Suburban had dealer plates, Lehman said.

Driver shot in face after stopping car

NORTHRIDGE - A man was hospitalized in stable condition Sunday with serious eye damage after he was shot in the face while his car was stopped on a Northridge street, a Los Angeles police sergeant said.

The shooting occurred at 9:15 p.m. Saturday when the victim, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was in his car at a stop sign at Calvin Avenue, said Sgt. Corina Hees of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley Division.

The gunman got out of a car that pulled up next to the victim's vehicle, then shot him in the face, Hees said.

The wounded man was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, she said.

No suspects were in custody for the shooting, the sergeant said.
