Motorcyclist caught after police pursuit

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A motorcyclist wanted on a warrant led police on a brief chase through residential streets Thursday, authorities said.

The man, who was not immediately identified, sped away when officers tried to stop him for a traffic violation at Sherman Way and Whitsett Avenue about 4:45 p.m., said Lt. Len Hundshamer of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Division.

Companies seeking guards for airport

WOODLAND HILLS - A federal program designed to find homes for wild horses and burros has canceled a stop at Pierce College this month amid allegations that some animals have ended up in slaughterhouses.

Second test for drugs for Alatorre dropped

City Councilman Richard Alatorre's motion to challenge a drug test that turned up positive for cocaine has been taken off the calendar by a Superior Court judge, officials said Thursday.

An attorney for Alatorre did not return calls for comment, but sources said it means there now is no motion pending to challenge the accuracy of the drug test.
