Van Nuys Municipal Court Judge Lloyd Nash ordered Timothy Lawrence Watkins, 54, Loren Timothy Watkins, 29, and Christina Marie Watkins, 27, tried on charges of grand theft and elder financial abuse. Auditions for teens to be held Sunday

NEWHALL - High school-age students can audition Sunday for the Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre's six-week Apprentice Company workshop.

Participants will write, rehearse, produce and perform their own script under the direction of Carolyn Waddle Almos. The workshop is free and open to those interested in acting, writing, designing or being involved in the technical end of stage productions.

``Our apprenticeship program gives students experience in a field they may be exploring - coming together in a creative, noncompetitive environment,'' said David Stears, the company's artistic director.

Auditions will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the theater, 24266 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. Electrical power restored by Friday

VALENCIA - A problem with a cable outside a Valencia electrical substation left about 1,700 Southern California Edison Southern California Edison (or SCE Corp), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity.  customers without power for a time, but service was restored to nearly everyone by daybreak Friday.

The outage occurred about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, said Edison spokesperson Tom Boyd.

``There was a failed cable outside the substation at Magic Mountain Parkway and Tourney Road,'' Boyd said. ``Many of the customers had their electricity back within an hour.''

All but 10 customers were back in service by daybreak, Boyd said.
