BRIEFLY : THOUSAND OAKS ISSUES REPORT ON SEWER PIPE.


THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - The city of Thousand Oaks submitted on Friday the third of four reports required by the Regional Water Quality Control Board after an estimated 80 million-gallon sewage spill into the Arroyo Conejo.

The report details repairs completed to the Unit W pipeline, the city's major sewage line, which ruptured rup·ture

 Feb. 3. The line was repaired Feb. 12 and restored to complete operation the next day.

The city issued preliminary reports last week. This week's report provided an update, assuring the board that the repairs were completed and that long-term plans to replace the pipe this summer are being finalized See finalization. .

The latest report also provides additional data from recent water quality tests.

VENTURA - A Ventura man suspected of strangling his girlfriend and leaving her body at an elementary school elementary school: see school.  has been indicted in her slaying, prosecutors announced Friday.

The grand jury indicted Jose Maria Garcia, 54, in the year-old killing of Marsha Anne Lane, a 43-year-old transient who frequented downtown Ventura, said officials with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Garcia was arrested on a drug charge and was scheduled to be released in January when police linked him to the killing and arrested him.

Garcia was scheduled to be arraigned Friday, but the matter was continued at the defense's request until March 10.
