BRIEFLY : THIEVES ROB CAMARILLO GEM SHOP AT GUNPOINT.


CAMARILLO - Employees of the Ultra Gold and Diamond Jewelry Shop were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday by two men who fled with several pieces of jewelry.

The robbery occurred at about 3:30 p.m., when the suspects entered the shop and demanded jewelry. The value of the jewelry taken has not yet been determined.

Canoga Park driver recovering after crash

SANTA PAULA - A teen-ager was shot and killed early Wednesday, although details surrounding the case remained unclear late in the day.

Ruben Escobedo, 17, died from a single gunshot wound to the neck, said Deputy Coroner Investigator Mitch Breese.

Escobedo was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 3:34 a.m., according to Breese.

Santa Paula police were investigating the case, but authorities were unavailable Wednesday to provide any information.
