GLENDALE - The City Clerk's office is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Alex Regional Theatre Board.

Applicants must have knowledge of fund raising, law, community relations 1. The relationship between military and civilian communities.
2. Those public affairs programs that address issues of interest to the general public, business, academia, veterans, Service organizations, military-related associations, and other non-news media entities.

 will present a symposium titled ``Preparing For College in the 21st Century'' at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The symposium will feature experts discussing entrance requirements, financial aid and types of education provided at colleges in California. Applicants sought for city positions

BURBANK - Applications are being accepted through Oct.22 for one vacancy on the Burbank Housing Corp. Board of Directors and one vacancy on the city's Board of Building and Fire Code Appeals.

The Housing Corp. helps to preserve and make available affordable housing to low- and moderate-income people in the city.

Applicants for the Board of Building and Fire Code Appeals must have experience in building construction and fire prevention.

Applications also are being accepted through Oct. 15 for one vacancy on the city's Transportation Commission. Applications are available at the City Clerk's Office in City Hall, 275 E. Olive Ave., (818) 238-5851.

The positions are not compensated. Applicants must be city residents eligible to vote.

Burbank's credit union scores high

BURBANK - The Burbank City Employees Federal Credit Union was ranked top in California for returning members and high performance, in a survey by a national credit union analyzing firm.

Callahan & Associates released the findings after compiling information on all credit unions in the U.S. and within the states. The Burbank facility was placed in the $50 million to $100 million asset and the 5,000 to 10,000 member categories.

The credit union serves the employees of the city of Burbank and their families.

Slide show focuses on life in Antarctica

A slide presentation on Antarctica will be made at the Oct. 14 meeting of the Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Program will honor Haloween houses

Glendale - The fourth annual Halloween Outdoor Decorating Recognition Program will award the most creatively decorated houses in Glendale this Halloween. To enter the contest, call (818) 548-3229 before Oct. 26. Properties will be judged in the evenings of the week of Oct. 25 through Oct. 29. Winners will receive a certificate and city council recognition.
