THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - A 36-year-old Thousand Oaks woman was in intensive care Thursday after she was thrown from a van that collided with a Mustang mustang [Sp. mesteño=a stray], small feral horse of the W United States. Mustangs are descended from escaped Native American horses, which in turn were descended from horses of North African blood, brought to the New World by the Spanish c.1500.  at the intersection of Moorpark Road and Avenida De Los Arboles, officials said.

Maria Garcia suffered head injuries after she was thrown from the passenger window and landed on the roadway during the crash at 9:56 p.m., Wednesday, police said. She was being treated at Northridge Hospital Medical Center Northridge Hospital Medical Center is a hospital in the Northridge town of Los Angeles, California, USA.  Moorpark Road when it was hit by Annmarie Tartamella, who was driving north on Moorpark Road, police said. Both drivers had a green light.

As the van rotated clockwise, the left rim and tire assembly broke at the axle causing the van to flip over onto the driver's side, police said.

Tartamella, 20, and her two passengers, Angela Nunez, 17, and Lori Bravo, 20, all of Moorpark complained of pain and were released at the scene.

Police are still investigating the crash.
