 neighborhoods, the Thousand Oaks City Council voted Tuesday night to draft an ordinance that allows the city to target slumlords.

The council also voted 4-0 to develop a strategy addressing aging homes and apartments that need rehabilitation rehabilitation: see physical therapy. .

Mother, daughter arrested in Oxnard

OXNARD - Following a monthlong investigation, Ventura County sheriff's deputies arrested a 40-year-old Oxnard woman and her 17-year-old daughter on suspicion of selling drugs, officials said Wednesday.

Valentina Espinoza was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of taking telephone orders for methamphetamines and cocaine, then using her unidentified daughter to deliver the drugs to buyers parked nearby, officials said.

A search warrant served at Espinoza's home in the 3000 block of South L Street turned up two ounces of cocaine and a half-ounce of methamphetamine, valued at $8,000, plus $9,300 cash.

Raymundo Morales Valenzuela, 42, who lives with Espinoza, also was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, police said. Espinoza and Valenzuela were in custody at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail each.

Espinoza's daughter was released to an older sibling and will appear in juvenile court juvenile court

 invites public to tour, review plan

CAMARILLO - California State University Enrollment
 will hold a public open house and environmental impact report scoping meeting Monday at the proposed site of the new Channel Islands campus.

The public is invited to tour the former Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center and to participate in a public discussion of the university's current plans for the new campus.

Tours of the 650-acre site will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Those who cannot attend can submit written comments to George Dutra, director of facilities planning, P.O. Box 2862, Camarillo, CA 93011-2862.

The former hospital site is located at 1878 S. Lewis Road, 1.5 miles south of the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena.
