THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Ventura County sheriff's officials are seeking a man they said attacked and tried to rape a woman as she did her laundry at an apartment complex this week.

Authorities said the attack happened at 12:40 p.m. Monday, when a man approached a woman in a laundry room A laundry room (also called a utility room) is a room where clothes are washed.
