MISSION HILLS - A man suspected of killing his wife two years ago, was arrested at shop he had just opened in Mission Hills, police said Friday.

Police said that her purse appeared to have been rifled, but were unsure whether robbery was a motive. The contents of her purse were spread around the minivan parked in the 11100 block of Borden Avenue - across the street from Charles Maclay Middle School.

Authorities close section of beach

Edison gives van to Valley program

Southern California Edison Southern California Edison (or SCE Corp), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity.  donated a nine-passenger van Friday to the Pacoima-based Communities in Schools program, which provides mentoring, conflict resolution, and education for 800 youths.

``This van will help alleviate many of the transportation needs in the Communities in School's program,'' said Assemblyman Tony Cardenas, D-Panorama City, who helped arrange the donation.

The van will be used to transport youth, parents and equipment to various functions. Cardenas sponsored legislation last year to finance a California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an  study of Communities in Schools.
