BRIEFLY : SUMMER DAY CAMP ON TAP IN GLENDALE.


GLENDALE - Park Recreation and Community Services will offer youth and teen day camps starting June 21 to be available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Youth Camp, for 6- to 10-year-olds, is located at Brand Park, Dunsmore Park and Verdugo Park. Teen Camp, for 11- to 15-year-olds, is at the south end of Verdugo Park.

Summer camps feature arts, crafts, sports and games sports and games

Recreational or competitive activities that involve physical skill, intellectual acumen, and often luck (especially in the case of games of chance). Play is an integral part of human nature.

Heart Association honors local man

Robert Abel (10 March 1937 – 23 September 2001) was a pioneer in visual effects and computer animation, best known for the work of his company, Robert Abel and Associates.
 Jr. received the American Heart Association's Volunteer of the Year Award at the organization's annual meeting and awards ceremony held June 4 at the Gateway Sheraton Hotel in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

Last June, Abeles helped lead the Greater Los Angeles Affiliate through a merger with the Western Sates Affiliate. He also helped make the 1999 Los Angeles Heart Ball one of the top fund-raising events of the year by securing the event's two largest sponsorships.

Robert Abeles also serves on a recruitment committee for the upcoming Los Angeles American Heart Walk.
