It was classified on the WTA Tour as a Tier I tournament from 2004 until its final year in 2007. , is seeking a new title sponsor and is continuing talks with Acura about another level of participation, a spokesman for the event said Monday.

The reason for the change: a shifting of sponsorship gears.

 Resort and Spa will be renamed the Acura Classic in 2000 after the luxury-car company signed a four-year contract to become title sponsor.
