EAGLE ROCK - Police arrested the 24-year-old son of a slain couple Friday because he allegedly made incriminating remarks.

Paul Quintana was arrested in Los Angeles about 1 p.m. and booked for investigation of murder, police said.

The bodies of Jose Quintana, 53, and his wife, Rose, 47, were discovered by their daughter Thursday night in their Eagle Rock home.

The couple's son ``made some admissions about the crime'' to the daughter, Detective Jose Carrillo said.

As she called police, Quintana packed his clothes and left the house before officers arrived, Carrillo said.

Carrillo would not say how the couple were killed.

Rain prompts beach pollution advisory

County health officials issued a rainy-day beach pollution warning Friday, recommending that people stay out of the water for at least 72 hours.

During a period of rain, bacterial levels can rise significantly in water near storm drains.

The elevated bacterial levels may last up to several days after a storm, so swimmers should stay away from water near discharging storm drains. Beach users should avoid contact with any storm-drain discharge on the beach, a health official said.

Police seek parolee in gunshot slaying

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Homicide detectives asked the public's help Friday in finding a parolee said to have killed a man during a drug deal Jan. 21 in North Hollywood.

Richard Perry Davons, 23, goes by the nickname ``Scooby,'' said Detective Tracey Angeles. Davons is wanted in the slaying of Roger Davis of Lake View Terrace.

Police found the mortally wounded man in an apartment in the 10900 block of Bluffside Drive. Davis, who had been shot once, later died at a hospital.

Detectives also found a substantial amount of marijuana at the apartment.
