PALMDALE - State parole agents searching for an ex-convict described as armed and dangerous discovered a drug lab in the trailer where he lived, sheriff's officials said.

Charles Clyde Hayes, wanted on drug charges, was gone when authorities arrived Monday at the fifth-wheel trailer where he had been living for five months in the 3200 block of Avenue R-14.

Deputies said the trailer contained glassware, liquid methamphetamine methamphetamine (mĕth'ămfĕt`əmēn): see amphetamine; methedrine.  and pills.

``They were just coming to arrest him on an existing warrant,'' said Deputy Gary Brody. ``They had no idea he had anything else.''

Fish tank explosion injures youngster
