BRIEFLY : SCIENTIST TO SPEAK ON ASTEROID THREATS.

Harris will describe past impacts on the Earth, including the theory that an asteroid strike led to the extinction of dinosaurs. He will talk about how often collisions of various sizes occur, and what happens when they do.

Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising. , in Earth and space science, and has worked with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), civilian agency of the U.S. federal government with the mission of conducting research and developing operational programs in the areas of space exploration, artificial satellites (see satellite, artificial),  to establish search programs for large objects coming close to the planet.

Programs to focus on raising children

The Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is offering two child-development classes beginning Monday.

My Buddy and Me classes will meet weekly for 10 weeks. The Terrific Tots class is a co-operative program in which parents are required to help the instructor at least six times during the 12-week session.

Library to host show on Mexican culture

The Valencia Library will present Veto Ruiz and Mariachi Aztlan at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in a musical celebration of Mexico's independence and ethnicity.
