BRIEFLY : SCHOOL WEIGHS FATE OF PERSONNEL DIRECTOR.


In separate closed sessions today, the Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  school district's trustees and its Personnel Commission are scheduled to meet and discuss the fate of John Absmeier, director of classified personnel.

Last month, Absmeier was placed on administrative leave by the three-member commission. The reason was not disclosed because district officials said it was a personnel matter.

Absmeier has worked for the Simi Valley Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  for more than 20 years. He is expected to attend the commission's meeting at 4 p.m. at the district office, 875 E. Cochran St.

The trustees are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

Older drivers can get refresher courses

SIMI VALLEY - The American Association of Retired Persons American Association of Retired Persons: see AARP.  will offer day and evening 55 Alive Mature Driving classes at the Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.

The course will be offered Jan. 14 and Jan. 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

A second course will be offered Feb. 2 and Feb. 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The course is geared to the specific needs of elderly motorists. Participants 55 years and older will receive a Department of Motor Vehicle certificate which could entitle en·ti·tle  
tr.v. en·ti·tled, en·ti·tling, en·ti·tles
1. To give a name or title to.

2. To furnish with a right or claim to something:
 them to a discount on the liability portion of their automobile insurance policy.

Each class is limited to 30 members. To register, call 583-6363.
