BRIEFLY : RUSSIA IS NO MATCH FOR AMERICAN WOMEN.

Byline: Daily News Wire Services

Lisa Leslie scored 26 points and the unbeaten United States routed Russia 96-60, sending the Russians to their first loss at the Women's World Championships on Monday in Bremen, Germany.

``We were clicking on all cylinders today,'' said U.S. coach Nell Fortner.

Russian coach Yevgeny Gomelsky was impressed by the American display of depth and talent.

``There is no real opponent for the Americans,'' he said. ``No one can defeat the U.S. team and they will surely win the world championship.''

Nikki McCray scored 15 points and Chamique Holdsclaw 14 in the surprisingly easy win. It was expected that the U.S. and Russia, both 5-0 when the game started, would be evenly matched. But there never was any doubt about the outcome.

The victory put the United States against Slovakia on Thursday in the first game of the eight-team, single-elimination finals.
