BRIEFLY : REFORM COMMISSION TO HOST OPEN HOUSE.


STUDIO CITY - Los Angeles' appointed Charter Reform Commission will hold an open house Monday to hear public reactions to its recommendations.

The session is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. at CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  Studio Center, 4024 Radford Ave. in Studio City.

With interactive display boards, a slide presentation and a public comment period, the open house is designed to let the public participate in the development of a new charter to overhaul the structure and organization of city government.

It will be the sixth in a series of seven open houses throughout the city, and only the second in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Three beaches get F in bacteria levels

Malibu Point, Malibu Pier and Surfrider Beach received failing grades last week in Heal the Bay's weekly beach report card, which rates beaches according to their levels of harmful bacteria.

The report card measured overall scores for 61 beaches rated weekly throughout the summer. Based on daily and weekly water monitoring data by local regulatory agencies, Heal the Bay Heal the Bay is a U.S. environmental advocacy non-profit organization based in Santa Monica, California.

Heal the Bay is dedicated to protecting California's Santa Monica Bay, a region of the Pacific coast encompassed by Malibu's Point Dume on the north and the Palos Verdes
 assigns beach grades of A-plus to F.

Forty-three of the 61 beaches received a grade of A or higher, according to the report, including Leo Carrillo Beach, Las Flores Canyon Creek and Will Rogers State Beach.

Topanga State Beach and Paradise Cove received C grades.

Native plant festival continues in Encino

ENCINO - The 28th annual California Native Plant Sale and Fair will conclude today at the Sepulveda Garden Center.

No residents injured in Agoura Hills blaze

AGOURA HILLS - No one was injured in an Agoura Hills house fire that broke out late Friday night, a Los Angeles County Fire Department Not to be confused with Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), serves unincorporated parts of Los Angeles County, as well as 58 cities and towns that choose to have the county provide fire and EMS services, including the City of La
 dispatcher said Saturday.

The blaze in the 27436 block of Revere Way was reported at 11:31 p.m. and firefighters had it out 22 minutes later, the dispatcher said.
