Residents will have a chance to speak on what changes they believe are needed in the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  City Charter from 6 to 9 p.m. today at a hearing scheduled by the appointed Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission.

The meeting will be at the Ebell of Los Angeles, 741 S. Lucerne Lucerne (lsûrn`), Ger. Luzern (ltsĕrn`), canton (1993 pop.  Blvd.

Today's hearing location - in the Mid-City area - will be the closest to the Atwater Village and Los Feliz area among those scheduled in coming weeks.

City settles lawsuit by ex-LAPD officer

Latino group vexed at 12 radio stations

The National Hispanic Media Coalition announced that it had asked the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  to deny renewal of Disney's broadcast licenses for stations KABC-AM, KTZN-AM and KLOS-FM. The group claims the stations have not met federal guidelines in the hiring and promotion of Latinos.

Disney, through a written statement, denied the charges, saying that the company has worked hard to include Latinos in its labor force.

The group filed petitions against nine other Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  radio stations, saying they violated federal rules by broadcasting obscene material.

About 400 Los Angeles County Superior Court clerks and judicial assistants plan to strike over the county's latest contract offer - a 10 percent pay raise over three years.

The strike, expected to begin today, will last ``as long as it takes,'' said Karleen A. George, a spokeswoman for the clerks union.

About 25 percent of the 400 Superior Court Clerks' Association members are county-employed, while the remainder are court-employed judicial assistants.
