LANCASTER - A recruitment and orientation session for men and women interested in becoming reserve deputies is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lancaster sheriff's station, 501 W. Lancaster Blvd.

Reserve deputies' responsibilities include uniformed and mounted patrol, and search and rescue operations. Applicants must be between 20 and 50 years of age, U.S. citizens, possess a high school or general education diploma, hold a California driver's license and have no felony convictions.

Applicants must undergo a background investigation, physical testing and psychological screening.
