Former University of Indiana basketball player Luke Recker was in fair condition Monday in Durango, Colo., after undergoing surgery to repair an ear severely lacerated lacerated /lac·er·at·ed/ (las´er-at?ed) torn; mangled; wounded by a jagged instrument.

Recker and four friends were injured in the three-car accident Saturday night on County Road 240 near Durango in southwestern Colorado Southwestern Colorado includes the following Colorado counties:

, 19, of Jasper, Ind., an Indiana student identified as Recker's girlfriend, suffered a spinal fracture and partial paralysis, according to a Colorado State Patrol report.

Her brother Jason Craig, 17, injured his head and spleen, officials said.
