There were few in-between grades. Most spots - 51 of 61 - got an A on dry days, but the runoff pushed up bacteria levels as a series of cold, wet storms swept across the region.

On dry days, five spots got an F for the week ended April 12 - Surfrider Beach Surfrider Beach is a famous right-break that had a big impact on the surfing culture in Southern California in the 1960s. Located near the Malibu pier, it is still probably the most surfed spot in Los Angeles County. ; Malibu Pier, 50 yards east; Venice Beach at Brooks Avenue; the county fire dock in Marina Del Rey Del Rey may refer to:

; and Cabrillo Beach, harborside at the lifeguard tower.

The county advises people to stay out of the water, especially near storm drains, for about 72 hours after a rain. The grades are based on the likelihood of getting sick from swimming in the water.

Simi woman injured saving cat from fire

SIMI VALLEY - A Simi Valley woman is recuperating from minor injuries she received after rushing into the burning house she was renting to save her cat.

Smoke inhalation typically occurs in victims or firefighters caught in structural fires.
 following the 7:54 p.m. Friday blaze in a two-story house on the 2500 block of Parkdale Ave., authorities said.

The fire caused an estimated $110,000 damage to the structure and $35,000 to the contents, fire officials said.

``It's extensive damage, but it's not a complete loss,'' said a fire department spokeswoman.
