The instructor, speech pathologist and associate professor Ted Levatter, is a veteran voice-over specialist for film and television. He has been teaching lip reading lip reading, method by which the deaf are able to read the speech of others from the movements of the lips and mouth. It is sometimes referred to as speech reading, which technically also includes the reading of facial expressions and body language. since 1982. He also teaches public speaking and voice diction. The course is designed to improve comprehension of daily oral communication for those with hearing loss.
