 Foundation for a manufacturing technology program that teaches students to make name tags, key chains and other products by using computers and machinery.

The grant, to be presented to the school Monday, will be used to purchase a generator to operate computers and machinery in a 40-foot-long trailer that houses the Manufacturing Technologies Laboratory, said Ron Plank, Maclay's computer and technology coordinator. Once the generator is installed, the trailer will be taken to other schools in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Census might cost L.A., Hahn reports

A federal court ruling Friday barring the use of statistical sampling in the 2000 census could cost the city millions of federal dollars, City Attorney Jim Hahn said.
