Anti-fur protesters march against store

BEVERLY HILLS - Anti-fur activists marched to the Beverly Hills Neiman-Marcus on Friday as part of their nationwide protest each year on the day after Thanksgiving as the holiday shopping season begins.

Rikki Rockett, a member of the band Poison, led the 13th annual ``Fur Free Friday'' through the streets of Beverly Hills.

``Fine retailers like Neiman-Marcus should be ashamed to contribute to this publicly denounced trade,'' said Chris DeRose, founder and president of Last Chance for Animals, which organized the local protest.

Neiman-Marcus spokesman Kirk Gerou said it is the protesters' right to voice their views.

``We understand and recognize their right to have a voice and protest and make their view known,'' he said. ``And we, as a store, also have the right to allow our customers to make a decision as to what they want to purchase and wear.''
