LANCASTER - Authorities were trying Monday to identify a man hit by a car while walking across a dark stretch of Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling .

The victim, who carried no identification, remained hospitalized Monday in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Antelope Valley Hospital.

Officials said the man was crossing Sierra Highway north of Avenue M about 12:35 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a 1998 Buick driven by Roy Simi, 81, of Palmdale. Deputies said they believed the pedestrian was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Anyone with information on the man should call Davidson at (805) 948-8466, officials said.

Victim found hours after vehicle crash

LITTLEROCK - A fatal early morning car crash on Cheseboro Road south of Mount Emma Road went undiscovered for seven hours, authorities said Monday.

Gathea Grace Dubel, 39, of Palmdale drove her 1968 Dodge Dart off the two-lane road and down a 20- or 25-foot embankment about 1 a.m. Monday, but the wreckage wasn't discovered until a passing motorist spotted it about 8 a.m., a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Fernandes was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital after the 4:15 a.m. crash, officials said.
