BRIEFLY : PACOIMA CAMPUS APPLIES FOR CHARTER.


A Pacoima elementary school elementary school: see school.  applied Monday to the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Board of Education to become Montague Charter Academy.

Officials at the 1,300-student Montague Street School asked for independent charter school status, which waives many state laws and gives a school control of its budget and staffing decisions.

If approved in the next 30 days, Montague would become the San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina
San Fernando (săn fərnăn`dō), city (1991 pop. 144,761), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. It is a district administrative center in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
 Valley's third charter school and would be a neighbor to the nationally renowned charter school, Vaughn Next Century Learning Center.

Mediation offered in quake disputes

A two-year pilot program to submit to mediation residential insurance disputes stemming from the Northridge Earthquake will begin June 15, the California Department of Insurance The California Department of Insurance (CDI), established in 1868, is the angency charged with overseeing the regulation of insurance regulations, enforcing statutes mandating consumer protections, educating consumers, and fostering the stability of insurance markets in the state  announced Monday.

The program ``will give those consumers affected by the earthquake another option to settle their disputed claims,'' said Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush.

``It will ensure that the claims we have received are resolved fairly and without lengthy and costly litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right. The act or process of bringing a lawsuit in and of itself; a judicial contest; any dispute.

When a person begins a civil lawsuit, the person enters into a process called litigation.
,'' he said.
