Family seeks help finding missing man

LANCASTER - The family of a Lancaster man who suffers from schizophrenia and was last seen six to seven weeks ago sought the public's help Monday in finding him.

Eugene Brunelle, 49, was reported missing several weeks ago from his Lancaster home, a representative of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lancaster station said.

He requires medication to treat his schizophrenia, said Phil Brunelle, the missing man's brother.

``At this point he's lost and in a catatonic (jargon) catatonic - A description of a system that gives no indication that it is still working. This might be because it has crashed without being able to give any error message or because it is busy but not designed to give any feedback.

state,'' Phil Brunelle said. ``He's harmful to himself, not to others.''

The missing man is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 150-160 pounds. He has receding brown hair and brown eyes, wears false teeth, has a limp and slurs his speech if he doesn't take his medication.

The family thinks Brunelle, who has run away two or three times in the past, may still be in the area. Anyone who might have seen him is asked to contact Phil Brunelle at (661) 251-7643 or (818) 298-2810, or the Lancaster sheriff's station at (661) 948-8466.
