BRIEFLY : NORTHRIDGE MAN DIES OF GUNSHOT INJURIES.RESEDA - A man was fatally shot Thursday night in the 18200 block of Kittridge Street, police said. The victim, a 42-year-old Northridge man, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper chest and was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Sgt. Gary Patton said. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the man but he stopped breathing on the way to the hospital, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Police responded to the 8:40 p.m. incident after receiving several telephone calls about gunshots in the area. Investigators said they have few clues about the shooting. ``At this point, we have no motive,'' said Sgt. Marianus von Korff. ``We're trying to sort all this out.'' ?13Daily News L.A. Zoo set to send pachyderm to S.F. Calle, the 30-year-old Asian elephant that injured an elephant keeper at the Los Angeles Zoo on Oct. 19, will be loaned to the San Francisco Zoo, officials announced Thursday. She will be joining Tinkerbelle, a 31-year-old female Asian elephant that has been without elephant companionship since April 1995. Calle was temporarily transferred to Have Trunk Will Travel, a 10-acre elephant compound in Perris. The elephant will be transferred to the San Francisco Zoo as soon as medical tests are completed and transportation is arranged, officials said. The Los Angeles Zoo is continuing to explore the possibility of Calle being permanently loaned to The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tenn. ?13Daily News Mayor names outsider to top office at DWP For the second time, Richard Riordan has gone outside the Department of Water and Power in naming his choice to lead the utility as it prepares for restructuring. Riordan announced Thursday that he has selected Harry Sizemore, an assistant director in the Bureau of Sanitation to serve as interim DWP general manager. Sizemore will succeed Bill McCarley, who is retiring next week. McCarley is a former chief legislative analyst and chief deputy to Riordan, who became the first outsider to head the agency in more than 40 years.
