BRIEFLY : MOTORCYCLIST ID'D AFTER FATAL CRASH.LAKE VIEW TERRACE - Police identified on Friday a motorcyclist who was killed a day earlier after he crossed over a double-yellow line and struck an oncoming van. Marlo Michael of Burbank was pronounced dead at the scene at about 11:35 a.m. Thursday when for undetermined reasons he crossed into oncoming traffic while he was eastbound on a curvy stretch of road in the 9800 block of Foothill Boulevard, police said. He hit a Ford van whose driver was not injured, said Detective Humberto Fajardo Fajardo (fähär`dō), town (1990 pop. 36,882), NE Puerto Rico. The cause of the crash was under investigation. - Daily News Pickup driver held after collision kills 2 PANORAMA CITY - A 55-year-old man was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday, officials said. The driver of the pickup, Matthew Murray, 29, of Palmdale, was arrested on suspicion of murder, said Los Angeles police spokesman Don Cox, without elaborating on the reason Murray was arrested. The crash occurred when pickup driver Murray crossed the road and collided with the station wagon driven by Pacoima resident Eloy Martinez, 55, at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Sheldon Street at about 11:54 a.m., authorities said. Firefighters had to extricate Martinez from the station wagon after he became trapped in the wreckage, said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. He was transported to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley, where he later died, said Heidi Ansell, a hospital nursing supervisor. Murray, who was in the pickup, was in critical condition and transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. A third victim, Martinez's wife, who was in the station wagon, was in serious condition, officials said. The cause of the crash is under investigation. - Daily News |
