Colin Montgomerie Colin Stuart Montgomerie, OBE (born June 23, 1963) is a Scottish professional golfer often referred to by his nickname 'Monty'. The $3.65 million event culminates a yearlong, single-elimination tournament featuring 32 of the world's top players.

FOOTBALL: Former Oregon All-American quarterback George Shaw, a No. 1 NFL draft pick who preceded Johnny Unitas as quarterback for the Baltimore Colts, died at his home in Portland at age 64 of bone marrow cancer.

Shaw started as a rookie for the Colts in 1955. Unitas signed the following year, and took over as the starter when Shaw injured his knee against the Bears early in the 1956 season.

Switzerland took the bronze medal and the U.S. took fifth, beating Sweden 3-2. American Jeff Farkas, who scored one of the three goals, finished as the tournament's leading scorer.
