Officials try to learn stray bones' origin

PALMDALE - Investigators tried to determine if bones found across the street from Palmdale Cemetery on Saturday and Sunday are human, a sheriff's deputy said.

A Palmdale woman walking her dog Saturday evening found the bones in a field near 20th Street and Avenue S, said sheriff's Deputy Dave Miklos.

The woman gathered up several bones and brought them to the Antelope Valley sheriff's station, Miklos said.

``We don't even know if they are human,'' he said, adding that more bones were found Sunday.
