BRIEFLY : MEETINGS HAVE AIM OF STRONGER BURBANK.


A series of meetings to talk about ways to strengthen the Burbank community ``in an age of diversity'' will be held next month by the Burbank Human Relations human relations nplrelaciones fpl humanas  Council.

Burbank Neighbors in Dialogue will meet once a week over five weeks beginning April 12. Seven ``dialogue circles'' are planned and they will take place in the evening hours from 7 to 9.

The discussions will be on broad topics centered around cultural diversity. Members can talk about family, customs, traditions and how different members of the community connect.

The organizers welcome ``all who have a commitment to Burbank and a willingness to listen and talk.''

The meetings are being held in partnership with the Burbank Family YMCA YMCA
 in full Young Men's Christian Association

Nominees wanted for property award

Glendale's Neighborhood Services Section is accepting nominations for its Gem Property Pride Award.

The award recognizes well-maintained properties that set a positive example in their neighborhood. Gem winners are given a certificate at a City Council meeting and a sign that they can post in their yard for one month.

Each nomination must be a residential property, either single- or multiple-family, with no active code enforcement cases. Nominations should take note of curbside appeal, outstanding structural improvements and landscaping.

Property owners cannot nominate their own property, but apartment tenants can nominate the property where they reside and landlords can nominate their renters for the award.

Scholarships swell at Glendale college

Glendale Community College Glendale Community College can refer to one of two colleges in the United States.

 is a Southland leader in distribution of scholarships, with a $3.5 million net asset endowment, according to a survey by the Glendale College Foundation.

More than $250,000 in scholarships are distributed annually through 200 scholarship funds. Nineteen new scholarships were added in 1997 and 25 in 1998, officials said.
