Knicks face a possible season-ending injury to starting center Chris Dudley, whose right foot will be in a cast until early April. The Knicks have re-signed 40-year-old center Herb Williams, who was traded to Philadelphia last week as part of the Terry Cummings deal and then was waived.

Dudley broke a bone in his right foot in Tuesday night's home loss to Golden State.

Almost a quarter of NBA general managers told Bloomberg News that they would sign suspended Latrell Sprewell - who choked his coach in December - if he were available immediately.

Twelve general managers said they have no interest in signing him, and nine wouldn't comment. Executives from every NBA team except the Warriors, who fired Sprewell with three years and $25 million left on his contract, were polled.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Indiana coach Bob Knight's latest outburst is under review by the Big Ten office. Fresno State forward Daymond Forney, who was reinstated last week after a drug-related suspension, has left the team again, this time voluntarily.

Forney, a starter earlier this season, said the pressure of attending classes, practicing basketball and attending evening counseling sessions was too hard.

ALSO: A Little League coach was acquitted in Milford, Conn., of charges he pushed a 13-year-old umpire into a fence after a raucous game two years ago. A six-member Superior Court jury deliberated about three hours before clearing the coach of a misdemeanor count of breach of peace.

``This wasn't a good day for Little League. I'll never coach again,'' said Richard Burns, 40, who racked up big legal bills during the trial. ``I feel like I've been run through the mill.''
