Man charged with tattooing girl

VAN NUYS - The owner of a Woodland Hills tattoo parlor was charged Friday with a misdemeanor for allegedly serving a 17-year-old girl, officials said.

Leonardo Martinis, 29, of Westlake Village was charged with tattooing a minor, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, said Deputy City Attorney Martha Gutierrez.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 27 in Van Nuys Municipal Court.

Martinis, who owns and manages the Think Ink tattoo parlor at 21626 Ventura Blvd., is accused of tattooing a dolphin on the hip of the girl in May, Gutierrez said.

Police began an investigation upon complaints from the teen-ager's parents, who said their religion prohibits tattoos, the prosecutor said.

The girl told investigators that Martinis gave her the tattoo without asking for identification.
