BRIEFLY : MAN GETS 9 YEARS IN VALLEY ROBBERIES.

Dale Martin Sullivan, 46, was sentenced in Van Nuys Superior Court by Judge Sandy Kriegler, after entering the plea to several of two dozen armed robbery, attempted bank robbery, assault and weapons charges.

Sullivan was arrested after a wild police pursuit in January. In the dark sedan he had been driving, authorities found his trademark cowboy hat, a leather jacket and a starter pistol.

 resumes work at site of fatal fall

UNIVERSAL CITY - Subway construction restarted Monday at the Universal City station where a worker died last week after falling from a scaffold, officials said.

Van Nuys man slain in stabbing at home

VAN NUYS - A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in the driveway of his home in Van Nuys early Monday morning, police said.

At about 2:15 a.m. police found the body of Franco Jose Cervantes at 14837 Delano St., according to Detective James Rahm of the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division.

Cervantes, who had received several knife wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspects and the motive is unknown, Rahm said.
