 - On the anniversary of a fiery crash in which a mother of three was killed, a Hollywood man was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years and six months to life in prison for causing the collision in Mission Hills as he fled from police.

San Fernando Superior Court Judge Shari Silver imposed the term on 20-year-old Christopher De Huff, who was convicted Sept. 18 of second-degree murder in the Oct. 14, 1997, death of Linda Wageman, 44.

The case renewed debate about whether police chases should be limited or even outlawed.

Wageman's 25-year-old daughter, Rebecca, was pulled from the burning wreckage by the officers, but they were unable to get to her mother in time.

De Huff was hospitalized with critical injuries.

Along with the second-degree murder conviction, De Huff was found guilty of evading arrest, unlawfully driving a vehicle and receiving stolen property.

NORTHRIDGE - Six police employees were sickened and the LAPD's Devonshire Division was evacuated for about an hour Wednesday after diesel fumes escaped from a generator, officials said.

The employees, four civilians and two officers, were treated at the station after having difficulty breathing, said Officer John Artes.

The fumes escaped inside the station in the 10200 block of Etiwanda Avenue and forced people to leave about 10:22 a.m., police said. The employees were allowed to return to the station at 11:15 a.m.

The generator, used by the police station for backup electricity, was being tested, Artes said.

Electrical fire burns two rooms of home

WOODLAND HILLS - Two rooms in a house were consumed by fire Wednesday in a blaze on fire; burning with a flame; filled with, giving, or reflecting light; excited or exasperated.

No one was injured when the fire broke out about 4:10 p.m. at a house in the 21500 block of Dumetz Road, said Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Voice-over players receive pay raise

The Screen Actors Guild and a television producers union agreed on a three-year contract for voice-over performers, SAG President Richard Masur announced Wednesday.

Basic session fees for voice-over performers were raised from $559 to $576. The contract also provides for wage increases of 3 percent the first year, and 3.5 percent in the second and third years, Masur said.

The agreement between SAG and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents 108 animated television producers, was approved by the guild's national board of directors, he said.

A residual formula payable for prime-time reruns on Fox will increase by 10 percent immediately, and by an another 10 percent beginning in the second year of the contract, Masur said.
