NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Police responding to a report of gunfire early Sunday found a 26-year-old man shot to death in an alley.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office withheld the man's name Sunday pending notification of his family.

The shooting happened around 3:05 a.m. in the 11100 block of Sherman Way. Patrol officers found the man in an alley behind an apartment complex, according to the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. For other uses, see LAPD (disambiguation).

His upper body, decorated with gang tattoos, had been shot several times, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel.

Police had no suspects in the killing Sunday.
