CANOGA PARK - A Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  policeman shot and killed a 56-year-old Canoga Park man holding a metal rod and threatening to kill the police Tuesday, authorities said.

City to start paying phone bills on time

A Los Angeles city panel on Tuesday asked for more information on steps being taken to correct a problem that resulted in the city paying $500,000 in fees for failing to pay its telephone bills on time.

At the same time, John Hwang, head of the Information Technology Agency, took responsibility for the problem and told the City Council's Budget and Finance Committee all bills would be paid on time from existing funds.

An audit from city Controller Rick Tuttle Rick Tuttle (born 1940) was Los Angeles City Controller from 1985 to 2001. He stressed the importance of creating a strong democratic influence at UCLA, which was in his words "the best large public university in a major city.  said the agency failed to properly analyze telephone bills to pay them on time and had been unable to develop a system to prevent improper use of city phones.
