BRIEFLY : MAN ENTERS PLEA TO 2 FELONY CHARGES.


GLENDALE - A Glendale man accused of tossing a potentially harmful device into his neighbor's yard pleaded not guilty Tuesday to two felony charges.

Darryl Straub, 34, is suspected of making terrorist threats and sending a false bomb with intent to cause fear, court officials said.

Straub was arrested Saturday after allegedly throwing a potentially harmful device into his neighbor's yard in the 1900 block of Glenwood Road. The Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County bomb squad determined the device was not explosive, but contained a chemical that could have caused injury.

Straub, who was convicted in 1993 of possessing an explosive device, will return to court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

Blood drive slated in student's honor

Preliminary hearing set in '97 shootings

GLENDALE - The preliminary hearing for a Glendale man accused in a 1997 homicide has been scheduled for Sept. 7.

In Municipal Court on Tuesday, Judge Lillian Stevens set the date and declined to reduce the $1 million bail for Stepan Kozmanian.

Kozmanian is charged with murdering one man and critically wounding another in October 1997 shootings. Authorities said Kozmanian fled the country after the shootings, but surrendered to authorities last week.

He is accused of killing Levon Barsegian, 32, a friend of his neighbor, Sirekan Agekian.

Police said Kozmanian quarreled with Agekian, shot him in the chest and ran. Barsegian followed, and then Kozmanian fatally shot him, police said.
