SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The Simi Valley Library will hold a book fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with more than 200 titles on sale for up to 70 percent below retail.

The selection will include best sellers, children's books, travel books, cookbooks The following is a list of cookbooks, sorted alphabetically by author's surname. This is not a list of external links to commercial sites; please list only cookbooks here.

 and general interest nonfiction books. Stationery items also will be on sale.

Proceeds will benefit the Simi Valley Friends of the Library, which will purchase new books and fund special programs.

Gardeners invited to 24th annual tour

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - People can take a break from tending their gardens Sunday and tour five elaborate, themed gardens during the 24th annual Garden and Patio Tour sponsored by the Westlake Village Garden Club.

The tour is designed so visitors can visit all five gardens between 1 and 5 p.m., said tour chairwoman Jo Maturo.

The gardens include a hillside transformed to include tree-lined paths and vantage points to a garden with 80 varieties of drought-tolerant plants.

It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  Botanic Garden a garden devoted to the culture of plants collected for the purpose of illustrating the science of botany.
